Rodeo Design Banner winners announced!

With over 400 entries received by the Mount Isa City Council for their Rodeo Banner Deisgn Competition, it's fair to say the competition was pretty tough. All local school were able to submit entries and these were judged and 2 winners were chosen by local artist Rowena Paine-Murphy. Each winner will have their design placed on banners which will be hung on the CBD’s flag poles every year in August for Rodeo season and receive a three day family rodeo pass and a massive art pack for their school.
…..”Mayor Joyce McCulloch said, ‘The competition was aimed at involving community members in the rodeo’s atmosphere, and the city’s involvement. Our students are an important part in helping develop and enhance a major event such as rodeo, and it gives them an opportunity to understand the history, where the event came from, and to be a part of its future.’ North West Star 27 June 2016”…..
And the winner is ………Brianna Hatherell - Year 4 Blue! One of our very own Barkly Highway State School students, how exciting!
